Obituary: Sparks, John Wesley - Thursday, July 6, 1933 The Jackson Times - July 1933 Submitted by: Carole Bays ************************************************************************** John Wesley Sparks, well known citizen of Breathitt and Wolfe Counties, died at his home at High Falls, July 6, at the age of 76. Mr. Sparks was in born in Wolfe County but moved to Breathitt more than thirty years ago, living at Key until 1921, when he returned to his former home in Wolfe. He was a member of the Church of Christ and had a host of friends. He was elected Coroner of Breathitt County, serving a four-year term. Funeral services were held Saturday, conducted by Rev. M.C. Stamper and Rev. Oney Banks. Burial followed in the Spencer Bend cemetery. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Candies Drake Sparks, five sons, Jasper Sparks, Elbert Sparks, Henry Sparks, and Houston Sparks, Heidelberg; and Logan Sparks, Key; one daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Burcham, Neon.
