Obituary: Combs, Sylvania Hatton - Thursday, October 10, 1957 Wolfe County News - Oct. 1957 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************* TRENT WOMAN FOUND DEAD AT RESIDENCE Mrs. Sylvania Combs, age 68, was found dead in bed at her home near Trent, Saturday, Oct. 12th by her daughter, Mrs. Golden Luke. Coroner Steve Brewer reported she had probably been dead since Wednesday, Oct. 9th. She is survived by two daughters. Besides Mrs. Golden Luke of Trent, Mrs. Fern Murphy of Ezel; also two sons, Woodrow Combs and Vermont Combs, both of Middletown, Ohio; also 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Landsaw, where the funeral was conducted on Monday afternoon at 2:00, Oct. 14th. Rev. John Dalton officiated. Burial was in the Cockerham Cemetery on Buchanan Fork with B.F. Porter and Son of Campton in charge of arrangements. Note: Sylvania was a HATTON. Her parents were Frank Cockerham and Carole Martha Hatton who were never married. Sylvania was married to Nathan Lee Combs s/o William Mason & Sarah Jane Combs Combs.
