Obituary: Pence, Taylor - August 12, 1976 Wolfe County News - August 27, 1976 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** WOLFE NATIVE DIES AT AGE 91 Taylor P. Pence, 91, a native of Wolfe County died Aug. 12 in Nim Henson Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born in rural Wolfe County in 1884, a son of pioneer parents, Felix and Elizabeth Gibbs Pence. He was reared under pioneer conditions and was proud of his heritage of thrift and hard work. His wife, Effie Pence, preceded him in death. Three children were born to this union but only one survives, Carl W. Pence of Dayton, Ohio. He had lived in Breathitt County since 1912, and during that time he served nine years in the armed forces, and for a time worked for Consolidated Coal Co., at Blackey. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Breathitt Masonic Lodge.
