George Washington Drake, 78, of Stanton, died early Tuesday morning, April 13 at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington. Mr. Drake was a native of Wolfe County, a farmer and lumberman. He was a member of the Church of God and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors are five sons, Edgar Drake, George Lee Drake, and Carl Cecil Drake, all of Stanton, John Henry Drake of Silver Grove, KY., Charles Millard Drake of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Faulkner of Stanton, and Mrs. Tony DiGiola of Rockville, Md.; one brother, Elmer Drake of Rogers; four sisters, Mrs. Caroline Johnson of Pine Ridge, Mrs. Mary Faulkner of Stanton, Mrs. Howard Neal of Clay City, and Mrs. Emma Stephens of Lexington; 28 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, April 15 at the Wells Funeral Home, Stanton, with Rev. Larry Mullins officiating.
