Obituary: Shackelford, Joan Marcum - Friday, April 13, 1979 Wolfe County News - April 20, 1979 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** DEATH CLAIMS JOAN MARCUM SHACKELFORD Joan Marcum Shackelford , 42, was dead on arrival early Friday morning, April 13, at Maddox Clinic. She had been in ill health for the past few years. Mrs. Shackelford and her husband, John, have owned and operated Shackelford Funeral Home in Campton for the past 19 years. She was born on Sturgeon Creek in Lee County, daughter of the late Lewis and Geneva Smith Marcum. Her mother preceded her in death one year ago. Mrs. Shackelford was a member of the Campton Methodist Church. Surviving besides her husband are one son, Mark, at home; three brothers, William D. Marcum of Lexington, Glenn Marcum of Cincinnati, and Dickey Marcum of Beattyville; two sisters, Mrs. Hershell Farmer of Indiana and Mrs. Mary Land Taylor of Booneville. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 15 at the Campton Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Chamberlin and Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Burial was in Evans Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Yeager, Tom Cox, Willie Campbell, Dowie Banks, O.J.
