HOLLON, RITES SET SAT. James I. Hollon, Jr. of DeLand, Fla., formerly of Hazel Green, KY., passed away Wednesday morning, June 8, at the Volusia County Hospital in DeLand, after a six months illness. Born May 19, 1916 in Hazel Green, he was a son of the late Captain James I. Hollon and Daisy Day Hollon. He was a former member of the Hazel Green Christian Church, where he had served on the Official Board for many years. He was Farm Manager for the Hazel Green Academy for twenty years. He was a graduate of Hazel Green Academy, class of 1934, and was a grandson of J. Taylor Day, one of the three founders of Hazel Green Academy. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife Edna Mae Hoover Hollon; a daughter Connie Mae Hollon Wyatt of Princeton, KY; a son James I. Hollon III of Mobile, Alabama; two granddaughters and two grandsons; a sister, Elizabeth Hollon Stewart of Hazel Green; two nephews, a number of cousins, and a host of friends. The body will be brought from the Herald and Stewart Funeral Home at six o'clock Friday evening to the Hazel Green Christian Church for visitation. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Herald and Stewart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
