Rose, 64 years old, prominent citizen of Wolfe County died Monday night at a hotel in Lexington. He had suffered a heart attack earlier in the day, and had gone to Lexington to consult a specialist, arriving there abut seven o'clock. Mrs. S.C. McCoun and Dr. and Mrs. O.H. Swango of this city accompanied him to Lexington, and Mrs. McCoun in was in the room with him when he died. Mr. Rose was born in Wolfe County March 16, 1872, and was a son of David B. and Millie Stamper Rose. He had engaged in farming most of his life and for a number of years conducted a general merchandise store near Campton. For a number of years he was director of the Farmers and Traders Bank. He was widely known and had many friends throughout Eastern Kentucky. Surviving besides his wife, Mrs. Lillie Swango Rose, are one brother, C.C. Rose, Stillwater; four sisters, Mrs. G.T. Center, Stillwater; Mrs. Jeff Wells, Baptist; Mrs. Marion Long, Calaboose, and Mrs. Sanford Wells, Cannel City. Mrs. S.C. McCoun of this city is a neice of Mrs. Rose and was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Rose. Mr. Rose was a member of the Methodist church and was always deeply interested in church work and community enterprises. The body was brought to Jackson Tuesday on the 5 o'clock train and taken in the Ray ambulance to the home near Campton where funeral services will be held Thursday at one o'clock. Services will be conducted by Revs. P.C. Eversole and W.L. Kash at the residence. Interment will follow in the cemetery near the home. L. Porter Ray, local funeral director, has charge of arrangements.
