OBITUARY: Wells, Mabel., August 9, 2003, Destin, Florida From: vivianmoon@juno.com Date: Mon, August 11, 2003 August 9, 2003 Saturday Middletown Journal, Middletown, Ohio Mabel Wells Mrs. Mabel Wells, 83, of Destin, Fla., formerly of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, at Destin Health Care Center in Destin, Fla. She was born in Wolfe County, Ky., on Nov. 26, 1919. Mrs. Wells resided in Middletown for most of her life but had lived in Florida for about six months. She was a manager-beautician at McAlpins Beauty Salon for 32 years, retiring in 1976, and was also a beautician for Baker-Stevens Funeral Home for more than 30 years. Mabel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and president of the Women⤁s Mission at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Wells in 1996; her parents, Roy George and Loma Ethel (Rose) McAlister; and her stepson, Paul Russell. She leaves a daughter, Jacqulyn J. (Chuck) Bales of Destin, Fla.; a son, Bill Wells of Columbus, Ohio; grandsons Kevin (Lisa) Anderson and Andrew Anderson, both of Middletown; great-grandchildren, Kevin F. Anderson, Maranda Roman and Jacob Roman; step-grandchildren, Melissa and Renee⤁; five step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Imogene Lucas of Erlanger, Ky. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1601 Jackson Lane, Middletown, with the Rev. Art Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home.
