The final verdict on the killing of Hershell Landsaw, was accidental killing by own gun. When the body was x-rayed at Winchester, the bullet was located in the back part of his head, and removed. It was the same calibre as the one used in his own gun. He was buried at Rogers, Tuesday by the side of his father. He was last seen alive late Saturday afternoon by his two friends a Brewer boy and a Hase boy. A gun, identified as belonging to the dead man was found lying under his right leg near his right hand. One shot had been fired from the gun. There was a bullet wound throught the upper lip of the victim but no signs of powder burns. Sheriff Elmer Clark with six other men held an inquest over the body Sunday about 12 o'clock. The jury agreed that Hershell Landsaw had been shot, they thought with his own gun. Whether accidentally or not is still to be determined. His body had been turned over to Hearne Funeral Home, who tried to locate the bullet but being unsuccessful the body was taken to Winchester. The young man was the son of Mrs. and Mrs. Frank Landsaw and had been discharged from the army only about six months ago. ************************************************************************* USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
