Obits: Peery, Cordia Asbury, died 05/15/1948 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Wolfe County news, May 21, 1948 DEATH LAYS CLAIM TO BELOVED CITIZEN All this community is grieved at the death of one of its most beloved citizens, Mrs. Cordia Peery, who passed away just before midnight, Saturday, May 15, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. She had been a patient there for a week prior to her death and ill at her home here for a week before being taken to the hospital. Her illness was diagnosed as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James Catchings of Dayton, Ohio, and Miss Maude Mae Peery of Frankfort; three grandchildren; and her parents, O.T. and Nancy Asbury, who made their home with Mrs. Peery here; two sisters, Mrs. W.C. Smith of Campton and Mrs. Hobart Young of St. Albins, West VA., and a brother, James Asbury, of Dayton, Ohio. She leaves also numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Campton Methodist Church on Wednesday morning at 10:00. The pastor, Rev. J.H. Lewis, had charge of the services. Mrs. Peery was a member of the Campton Methodist Church where she was a loyal worker for many years. She was always willing and ready to help anyone in need, visiting the sick often with words of encouragement. She had been connected with the County Health Office for 12 years. She ran a shoe repair shop in connection, with her home. A very industrious person, always seeming to have an excess of engery.
