Obits: Wilson, Curtis, died 04/26/1951 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Wolfe County News, May 2, 1951 DEATH LAYS CLAIM TO CURTIS WILSON THURSDAY APRIL 26 Curtis Wilson, retired merchant died in the Murray Hospital at West Liberty, Thursday evening, April 26 at 9 o'clock, after a lingering illness. He has been in and out of the hospital half a dozen times during the past year; but his age was against him. Born July 10, 1876, he was 74 years, 9 months and 16 days of age at his death. His wife preceded him in death several years. He is survived by his seven children: Earnie, Osgood, Ind; Elza, Dayton, O.; Shillie and Estill both of Hazel Green, Ova and Asa both of Daysboro and one daughter, Mrs. Laura Wilson Pennington of Hazel Green with whom he made his home. Also surviving him are two brothers: Holt of Berea and Courtney of Helechawa; and four sisters; Mrs. Cora Nickell, Milan, Ind; Mrs. Ester Swift, Atlanta, GA: Mrs. Nannie Davis, Milan, Ind; and Mrs. Josephine Frank of Muncie, Ind. 25 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive him as well as other relatives and hots of friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Daysboro Christian Church of which Mr. Wilson had been a member for about fifty years. Rev. Harlan Murphy and Rev. Willie Taylor delivered the final message and burial followed in the Wilson Cemetery on Red River with the West Liberty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wilson had been a prominent farmer and later a merchant for several years until his health forced him to retire from business. He was a good citizen and a kindly neighbor. He was also a veteran of the Spanish American War. All of the children and all of his brothers and sisters were here for the funeral save one sister, Mrs. Ester Swift of Atlanta, GA. who was not able to make the trip due to illness.
