EMMA SHERMAN, NATIVE OF COUNTY Mrs. Emma Sherman, daughter of the late Granville and Martha Evans passed away Thursday, October 5, at 6 p.m. at the Miami Valley Hospital where she had been a patient for several weeks at the age of 73 years. Mrs. Sherman was the wife of the late Alonzo Sherman and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Strickle, Mrs. Hettie Murphy and Miss Hattie Sherman; two sons, Messrs, Ray and Sterling Sherman; one granddaughter and two grandsons, all of Dayton; one brother, Mr. Douglas Evans and one sister, Mrs. Lelia Horton, both of Campton, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Sherman has been a member of the Campton Methodist Church for many years but attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Dayton as much as her health permitted. She was a devout Christian through the years and her influence will continue to live in her home and in her community. Her niece's husband, Rev. T.W. Farmer brought the funeral message, assistsed by the local pastor, Rev. J.H. Lewis, Mr. I.D. Hearne of Stanton was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Messrs, Jack Smith, Steve Rose, Omer Catron, Cud Hanks, Charles Lindon and Paul Lawless, Sr., acted as pallbearers.
