Obits: Murphy, Ben, died 03/02/1950 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** WOLFE COUNTY NEWS, March, 1950 FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BEN MURPHY Funeral services for Ben Murphy, 75 of Murphy Fork, Ky, Morgan county who died Thursday night, March 2, 1950 at the West Liberty Hospital, were held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence at Murphy Fork with Rev. Harlan Murphy officiating. Mr. Murphy, father of Wolfe county's judge, C.W. Murphy of Campton, was retired post master of Murphy Fork, a farmer, and stock dealer. A life long resident of Murphy Fork, he had been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years. Besides his son, Judge Murphy, he is survived by four other sons, Harry W. Murphy, Dayton, O., Courtney Murphy, Murphy Fork, Earl Murphy, West Liberty and Raymond B. Murphy, 216 Catalpa Rd., Lexington, Ky; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Nickell, Lexington and Mrs. Golden Nickell, West Liberty, also one brother, J.F. Murphy, Chandler, Okla. Burial services were in charge of the Masonic Order lodges from West Liberty, Hazel Green, Campton and Torrent participating. Burial was in the Murphy family cemetery on Murphy Fork.
