RILDA DAY, (#1 obit) The body of Mrs. Rilda Day was brought from Lexington to the Hazel Green cemetery for interment on Sunday, January 6. The funeral proper for Mrs. Day was held in Lexington on Saturday, January 5, but a brief service was held at the Methodist church here to give her many friends an opportunity to pay their last respect. Mrs. Day lived to the age of 94. She was the last of the four original Charter members of the Hazel Green Cemetery Association and it was only fitting that her body should be lain to rest, in the spot she had always cherrished. The body was accompanied here by her three children, Dr. E.O. Day of Little Rock, Ark., Mr. Willie Day of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Pearl Bach of Lexington and a host of friends and other relatives. Those attending were Mr. Fred Bryant, Mr. Al Garver, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Congleton, Mrs. Arthur Bach, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Perkins and son, Sam Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Byrd, Mr. Perry Swango, Mr. Courtney Lacey, and Mrs Sue Long Riley, all of Lexington. Mrs. Laura McGuire, Mr. and Mrs. Pryce Sewell, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie James Cockerell, Mrs. Lizzie Combs, Mrs. Everett Bach and daughter, Cleanor? all of Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heinrich and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duff of Mt. Sterling, Mr. C.B. Rose and son, Sgt. Ben, and son Ben, Jr., of Hazard, Rev. Harlan Murphy and wife of Grassy and a host of others. ILLNESS FATAL TO WOLFE COUNTIAN (#2 obit) Mrs. Zarilda Day, widow of Frederick N. Day, died at her home in Lexington, January 3, after a two weeks illness. Mrs. Day was a native of Morgan county and the daughter of the late Jordan and Judy Cox Nills.(??) She was the wife, daughter, grandaughter and great-granddaughter of Confederate soldiers. Her father served with Gen. John Hunt Morgan during the War between the States. She was one of four women to organize the Hazel Green cemetery over which she was president many years. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Everett Bach of Lexington, two sons, W.L. Day of Mt. Sterling and Dr. E.O. Day, LIttle Rock, Arkansas, a sister, Mrs. C.F. Cash, Loveland, O., four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kerr Brothers funeral home by Rev. John K. Johnson, pastor of the Maxwell Street church of which Mrs. Day was a member and Rev. J. Archer Gray, pastor of Everybody's church. Burial took place at 1:00 in the Hazel Green cemetery Sunday afternoon.
