Dec., 1945 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bayes ************************************************************************ WIFE OF JACKSON BANKER SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS Mrs. Ellen Whisman Terry, 67, wife of Charles Terry, president of the First National Bank of Jackson, succumbed to an illness of more than three years at her home here last night at about eleven o'clock. A native of Wolfe County, Mrs. Terry was the daughter of the late Michael C. and Nancy Bailey Whisman. She was born at Fincastle, now known as Booth, on November 13, 1878. In 1901 she was married to Mr. Terry and on the day after Christmas 40 years ago, they moved to Jackson where they have made their home since. For about 35 years Mrs. Terry operated the Terry Restaurant on Main Street here and managed her considerable real estate holdings. To their union were born two children. The oldest Elmer J., died suddenly last May; and their daughter, Mrs. Elsie Sewell, resided with her parents. Mrs. Terry became ill about three years ago and has been critically ill since the death of her son. Death had been expected momentarily for the past week or more. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services have been announced for Saturday afternoon, Dec. 22 at 1:00, with Rev. Ike Gabbard officiating, assisted by Rev. D. C. Sparks, Rev. H.L. Cockerham and Rev. W. Taylor. Surviving in addition to her husband and daughter, are three sister, Mr. T.S. Shackleford of Beatty- nd two brothers, Ray Whisman of Finnie Shocraft of Dayton, Ohio: ille, Mrs. Julia Nelson and Mrs. Booth, and Arthur Whisman of Indianapolis, Ind. Widely known throughout this and her home county, Mrs. Terry's death is mourned by a host of her friends and relatives.
