TYRA AT CAMPTON Former State Solon Died In Lexington Hospital Last rites for Daniel Boone Tyra, 72 year old, Stillwater resident, who died in the Good Samaritian Hospital at Lexington, Wednesday, Sept. 12, following an illness of three weeks, were held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the Evans Cemetery in Campton, with Rev. Johnny Dalton of Baptist in charge. A choir, under the direction of Bill Dunn, sang several selections. The large floral offerings and the number of people who attended the funeral, as well as the words of the officiating minister, paid tribute to the life of the deceased. "Uncle Boone." as he was affectionately called by those who knew him, had run a grist mill at Stillwater for the past 35 years. He was well known throughtout Eastern Kentucky, as he had always been active in politics and held several state jobs. He served as state Representative from the Wolfe-Morgan District in 1916-1917. He was a candidate for Representative this year and received a majority of votes in Wolfe County. He was always interested in raising the educational standards of our state, and aided in getting the new Wolfe County High School at Campton. Mr. Tyra, s/o the late G.W. and Susan Tyra, of Stillwater, was born on Holly Creek in Wolfe County on April 15, 1873. He was united in marriage with Miss Maranda Rose on September 14, 1883. To this couple were born two sons, Herman E. (Deceased) and Erna of Campton. In addition to his wife and son he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Belle McPherson of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Martha Brewer of Hollonville; one brother, E.B. Tyra of Hollonville; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grand children; and other relatives. Out-of-town relatives and friends present for the services included: Mrs. Polly Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Elme Rose, Everett Rose, Eugene Rose, Mrs. Daisy Lottenberger, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Horton, Mr. and Mrs. George Noble, and Mr. Robert Prichard all of Dayton, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stamper and children, Mrs. David Buchanan and children of Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Cora Honshul of Noctor, Kentucky: J. Everett Bach and son, Billy, of Jackosn, Johnny Coons of Louisville, Mr. and Mrs. Mort Sargent of Chester, Pa., Rev. and Mrs. Sherman Robbins, Mrs. Jesse Chaney, Garth Cheny, and George Billings of Stanton; Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Rose and family and Mr. and Mrs. John H. Rose of Hazel Green. Burial under the direction of the Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
