Mr. Profitt, a son of the late Jerry and Lavina Whisman Profitt, was born in Wolfe County on April, 8, 1873. He was married to Miss Rose Cox, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. B.D. Cox on November 2, 1894, and to their union eleven children were born. Two of the children, Dorthy and Troy, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rose Profitt; four daughters, Mrs. Oma Drake, Middletown, OH; Mrs. Betty Stephenson, Newport; Mrs. Lavina Tolson, Dayton, KY; and Mrs. Katherine Ashcraft, Cincinnati; five sons, Sherman of the home address; Charlie, Middletown, OH; and Austin, Clifton; and Courtney, of the United States Army; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Kincaid, Torrent; Mrs. Rebecca Short, Zachariah, and Mrs. Emma Hatton, Middletown, another sister, Mrs. Alice Terrill, passed away two months ago; two brothers, Milard Profitt; Torrent; and Jim? Profitt, Middletown; 36 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services were held at 3:00 oclock Tuesday afternoon in the Cox Cemetery at Big Andy, with Rev. J.P. Powell, of Slade and Rev. Edward Charles of Big Andy, officiating.
