OLIVER, 70 Funeral services were held Sunday in the St. Helen's Christian Church, St. Helens, KY., for E. H. "Eddie" Oliver, 70, who died at home near Fincastle Friday, Nov. 30, after an illness of nearly two years. Eddie, the son of the late Walter T. and Julia Shackelford Oliver, was a native of Wolfe county but had been a resident of Lee County for the past 33 years. He was a school teacher by profession but for the past several years served as postmaster of Fincastle. He was also a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Oliver beside being a good business and professional man, was an outstanding citizen. He was a man of integrity and honesty and his death is not only a great loss to his family, but to his county and state. Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Oliver, three sons: Walter, Herman and John Paul Oliver, and five daughters who include Mrs. Ruth Smyth, Leeco; Mrs. Marie Ridgon, Louisville, Mrs. Madge Cockerham, Beattyville; and Gladys and Beulah Oliver who are still at home. Two of the surviving sons, Herman and John Paul are in the armed services. The third son, Walker, lives on a farm near the home of his parents. Mr. Oliver is also survived by one brother, C.B. Oliver of Campton and two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Griffith of Jackson and Mrs. Tillie Cable of Baptist, Ky, in Wolfe County. The pallbearers were Jim Griffin, John D. Hieronymus, Clayton Judd, A.H. Taylor, John Cable, Topsy Cable, J.H. Kincaid, and Thomas Earl Shackelford. The Rev. Bill Warner was in charge of the funeral services and burial was in the Evans Crossing Cemetery, Campton, with Congleton Bros.
