Obits: Terrill, Frank, died 05/16/1949 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** WOLFE COUNTY NEWS, May 20, 1949 MAIN STREET OF CAMPTON SCENE OF FATAL SHOOTING Albert Halsey, about 26 of Campton, Ky. is being held in custody in the West Liberty jail for the shooting and killing of Frank Terrill, about fifty, of Bethany, KY, on the main street of Campton in front of Fletcher's Store, Monday, May 16, about 1:00 p.m. according to Sheriff Elmer Clark. Allegedly the shooting was over previous trouble between the victim and the slayer. Halsey claims that he shot in self defense, says Sheriff Clark. Sheriff Clark said that Frank Terrill was shot twice through the body and died as a result of his wounds, before he arrived at the hospital. The County Health Nurse, Bertie Center and her assisant, Irene Spencer, and also Mr. Kash Rose, who is a registered nurse administered artificial respiration to the victim after he fell in the street, some thiry feet from the place where he was shot. But he was too far gone for it to do much good. As no doctors were available, Hearne ambulance was called from Stanton and they started to Winchester to the hospital with Terrill, but he died before they reached Stanton, where the body was taken to Hearne's Funeral Home and prepared for burial then returned to his home on Holly, near Bethany. Funeral services were held at the Tyra Cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, May 18 at 1:00 p.m. by the Rev. John Dalton. Funeral arrangements were directed by Hearne Funeral Home. Terrill is survived by his wife, two sons, Frank, Jr., of Dayton, O., and George, at home and four daughters, one of whom is Mrs. George Elkins of Hazel Green. Wolfe County News, September 28, 1949 HALSEY IS FREED OF MURDER CHARGE Circuit Court closed Saturday, September 24, according to Circuit Court Clerk, A.B. Kash, nine felony cases went off docket this court and 37 misdemeanor cases.
