Obits: Hollon, Noah, died August 1950 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ********************************************************************** Wolfe County News, Aug. 30, 1950 TWO SLAIN SUNDAY EVENING IN SHOOTING AT LACY CREEK; ONE HELD IN JAIL Two young men were killed instantly from shot wounds, Sunday afternoon between four and five p.m. Charlie Lindon, Jr. is son of Charles Lindon of Lacy Creek and Noah Hollon, 24, son of Luther Hollon, deceased, were shot and killed instantly by Armstrong Carson, Sunday afternoon at the mouth of Elkins Fork on Lacy Creek, according to Sheriff Byrd. It is reported that these three young men had had trouble previously and the shooting was the result of it. Armstrong Carson is the son of Mrs. Pearlie Carson Gibbs, is 26 years of age and is married and has one child, a little boy. Sheriff Byrd says that Carson came into Campton and gave himself up to the jailor and notified the sheriff of what he had done. Double funeral services were conducted for Noah Hollon and Charles Lindon, at the Carson cemetery on Tuesday afternoon at two p.m. with Rev. John Dalton in charge of the service. The bodies of the young men were prepared for burial by Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton, and returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lindon, Sr., of Lexie, on Monday afternoon. Noah Hollon is survived by his wife, Stella Hollon and three children, Mary, Irene and Donald Ray, all small children, also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Hollon, both of Lexie, Ky, and two sisters, Fannie Hollon and Bessie Hollon, both of Campton and one brother, Luther Hollon of Newport, and a host of other relatives and friends. Charles Lindon, Jr., is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lindon of Lexie, two brothers, James and Seldon, both of Lexie and a sister, Virginia also of Lexie. His grandfather, Harrison Lindon lives in Breathitt county. He leaves many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Wolfe County News, September 27, 1950 15 YEAR SENTENCE GIVEN CARSON BY JURY FOR HOLLON SLAYING. Crowds Pack Courtroom for Hearing A jury of twelve Wolfe County citizens Thursday returned a verdict of gulity in the case of the Commonwealth versus Armstong Carson, charged with the slaying of Noah Hollon, and fixed his puishement at 15 years in the state penitentary at La Grange. Carson, 26, was accused of slaying Hollon, 24 and Charlie Lindon, 18 in an altercation at the mouth of Elkins Fork of Lacy Creek, on Sunday, August 27. According to Sheriff Byrd, Carson came into Campton and surrendered to the jailer after the shooting affray, and notified the sheriff of what he had done. The case has aroused much interest in the county, as was evident by the packed courtroom during the three days of trial. The trial had been set for Monday, September 18 and required a full day to seat the jury. Six of the regular jury were accepted to serve on the trial panel and 72 names were drawn from the wheel, most of them being examined, before the other six jurymen were seated, according to Circuit Court Clerk, A.B.
