Obits: Terrill, Royce, died 01/03/1954 Oct. 2002 Wolfe County, KY Submitted by: http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000062 Wolfe County Genealogy and Carole Bays ************************************************************************ Wolfe County News Jan. 6, 1954 A 17 year-old-boy was shot fatally about 3 p.m on Sunday, January 3 while playing at a neighbor's house, near Campton. He was Royce Terrill, son of Clayton Terrill, Covington, KY., who had been living at the home of George Hatton here and working on the Hatton's farm. The shooting occurred near the home of Frank Harris where young Terrill and Harris' son, Leroy, about 13, had been playing with a cap pistol. Harris said he and another son, Glenn Marion Harris, were sawing wood near the house when Terrill approached them, still carrying the toy pistol. He told them he had been shot by Leroy then slumped to the ground. He was pronounced dead when the physician arrived. Harris found his shotgun recently fired, in the house. A charge from the gun had entered Terrill's body near the shoulder blade. Harris said he did not hear a shot but that the noise from his gasoline powered saw apparently drowned out the noise from the gun. Harris surmised the boys were playing and his son had obtained the gun to use as another weapon in their game. The body was removed to Hearne Funeral Home, Stanton. ************************************************************************* USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
