Obituary: Hughes, Ruth (Tyler) - Saturday, March 7, 2009 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** WINCHESTER - Ruth Tyler Hughes, 94, of Winchester, widow of James Orvis Hughes, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2009, at the Winchester Centre. A native of Campton, she was born May 14, 1914 to the late Thomas Roscoe Tyler and Sarah Ethel Lykins. She was a previous resident of Las Cruces, NM, where she was a former owner of the Hughes Motel. Later she became a member of the Elkriver Baptist Church in Estill Springs, TN. She is survived by one daughter, Patty Sue Williams of Guntersville, AL and son J.O. Hughes and his spouse Becky Braun of New Mexico. Grandchildren, Whitney Tyler Williams and Shane Winthrop Williams of Guntersville, AL, Jay Olin Hughes (Debbie Howey), and William Carl Hughes (Iwona Wojcinska) all of Las Cruces, NM. Great-grandchildren, Curtis Jay Hughes, Kelsey Lynn Hughes, Joshua James Hughes, and Timothy Jonah Hughes, brother Norman (Mary) Tyler and sister-n-law, Nina Tyler. Special recognition and heartfelt thanks are given to her friend Mary McDonald. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter Amanda Hughes, brothers Cecil (Bertha) Tyler, Barnes (Mary) Tyler, and Elmer "Doc" Tyler, sisters Blanche Henry, Marcella (Otis) Henry, and Monell (Jack) Neely. Funeral services will be Wed at 4pm by Rev. Lee Cruse at Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home 289 S. Main St. Visitation will be from 3pm Wed until the hour of service.
