Obituary: Pelfrey, George Glenn - Saturday, January 23, 2010 The Daily Independent Online (Ashland, KY), 29 January 2010 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** George Glenn Pelfrey, 81, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Jan. 23, 2010, at his daughter's home in Douglasville, Ga. Mr. Pelfrey was born in Hazel Green, Ky., and moved to Gainesville in 1985 from Houston, Texas. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1947 and Emory and Henry College in Meadowview, Va. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. He retired from IBM after 29 years and also worked for C&O Railroad for more than three years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane S. Pelfrey; three brothers and one sister. He is survived by a daughter, Glyn Louise Pelfrey Earnhart (Jerry) of Atlanta; son, Gregg Malcolm Pelfrey (Sharon) of Gainesville; grandchildren, Janet Earnhart Mayo (Matthew), Shanna Earnhart and Gregg J. Pelfrey (Angela) and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Meadows Funeral Home in Gainesville.
