Obituary: Murphy, Robert E. - Thursday, December 17, 2009 Published in The Middletown Journal on 12/19/2009 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** MURPHY, Robert E. age 86, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Atrium Medical Center Emergency Room. He was born April 24, 1923 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. and was at Omaha Beach on the D-Day invasion. Robert was employed as a Department Manager and Color Specialist at Sorg Paper Company for 28 years. He then worked as a HVAC Technician in Melbourne, Florida for 5 years, retiring in 1984. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his son and grandsons at Cherokee Lake, Tennessee. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, Fleming and Susie (Martin) Murphy; four brothers, Garnet Armitage, James Murphy, Henry Murphy and Donald Murphy; and two sisters, Isabelle Dennis and Elizabeth Horton. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dutchie Murphy; two children, Bob (DaLee) Murphy of Franklin, Ohio and Connie (Dave) Frye of Charlotte, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Harlow of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa (Andrew) Hobart of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Lori (Pete) Krenek of Spartanburg, South Carolina, David (Anita) Murphy of Tallapoosa, Georgia, Doug (Brigette) Murphy of Franklin, Ohio and Mindy (Calum) Banks of Springboro, Ohio; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one sister, Bessie (Warren) Sargeant of Crawfordsville, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church, 3023 N. Union Rd., Franklin, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Doctor Roger D. Green officiating and with grandson, Scott Harlow, singing. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, Ohio with Military services by the Franklin V.F.W. Post Honor Guard.
