Obituary: Martin, Eithel L. (Hollon) - Tuesday, June 23, 2009 Published in The Middletown Journal on 6/25/2009 Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** MARTIN, Eithel L. age 93, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Miami Valley Hospital after a short illness. She was born October 24, 1915 to D. B. and Corda (Lykins) Hollon in Wolfe County, KY. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Middletown and sang in the choir for many years. Eithel graduated from Powell County High School in Stanton, KY and then completed two years of college. She served as a substitute teacher in the Middletown School District for a short time. Her career also included working at Streifthau Hardware Store, Lewis Drug Store and she retired in 1980 after 13 years from Merrell Pharmaceutical (now P & G) in Reading, OH. During her early years, she played quitar and bass as well as sang in a country music band in Ashland and Lexington, KY. She is preceded in death by her three brothers, Alden, Wilson and Bernard. Eithel is survived by her son, Henry "Hank" (Molly) Craycraft of Middletown; grandchildren, Erin (Jeff) Colligan of Cincinnati, Seth Craycraft of Middletown, Bridget (Josh) Rolfes of Lawrenceburg, IN and Shannon (Bryan Dye) Craycraft of Middletown; sisters, Ina Fisher of Middletown, Audrey King of Winchester, KY and Delsie Hollon of Dayton, OH; sister-in-law, Betty Hollon of Winchester, KY and many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 27, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will follow on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
