Age 66 of Camden, OH formerly of Middletown, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 22, 1943 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his wife Faye, step daughter Lisa, two infant daughters, his parents, James R. and Junie (Brewer) Proffitt and a brother Richard Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was employed by Sorg Paper Co. for 10 years, a truck driver by trade and a farmer by heart. He was a former Assistant Fire Chief of South Madison Township and the Butler County Mounted Sheriff's Patrol. His hobbies included fishing and horses; he was a 4-H advisor in Butler County for many years. He is survived by one son, James R. and wife Rhonda Proffitt of Camden, Ohio; two step daughters, Kristie (Mike) Back of Trenton, Laurie (Rick) Grubb of Middletown; one step son, Carl "Skip" (Celeste) Combs of Melbourne, Florida; two brothers, Eugene (Rhonda) Proffitt and J.D. (Glenda) Proffitt both of Middletown; one sister, Christine (Sonny) Bors of Franklin; fourteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many special friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday at the Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Studebaker officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery. The family is accepting contributions in care of the funeral home to help with expenses in Remembrance of Dewey.
