Obituary: Georgia, America Lou (Tibbs) - Saturday, June 28, 2008 The Middletown Journal - 6/30/2008. Submitted by: Carole Bays ********************************************************************** GEORGIA, America Lou age 82, of Carlisle, OH, went to be with her Lord at 4:55 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Garden Manor where she had resided for over a year. The Wolfe County native was born on Sept., 29, 1925 in Landsaw, KY to John B and Mary M. (Taulbee) Tibbs. She worked at Hoover Ball and had done private home nursing for many years. She retired from managing the Women's Center in Middletown, OH in 1988. Lou loved sponsoring kids through The Christian Children's Fund. She sponsored two girls, Bessie and Sulema over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and quilting, but her greatest accomplishment in life was loving and caring for her family. Lou was a member of the Towne Blvd. Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and true love, Austin "Eddie" Georgia in 1987; 3 brothers, Herbert H., Albert and Frank Tibbs; 4 sisters Edith Georgia, Ruby Boyd, Irene Childers and Elsie Herz; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She is survived by her children, John E. Georgia wife Linda Dover, TN, Barbara L. (nee: Georgia) Alcorn Carlisle, OH, Robert E. Georgia wife Janice Middletown, OH and Kathy J. McIntosh husband Duane Middletown, OH; 13 grandchildren, John, Kevin (Tammy) and Kristopher Georgia, Chrissy (Ben) Spies, Debbie (Rob) Fairchild, Mandy and Jenny Ryan, Debbie Elam, Freddie (Judy) and Jeffery (Susan) Alcorn, Bobby (Donna) and Michael (Mary Ann) Georgia and Timothy Scherkenbach; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Richard (Janet) Tibbs of Trenton, OH, JB (Betty) Tibbs of Somerville, OH, Lee (Shirley) Tibbs of Eastlake, OH and Bobby Gene (Bonnie) Tibbs of Middletown, OH; 1 sister Ann Moon of Trotwood, OH; many special nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends. Over the past year, Lou's illness took a lot from her including the ability to communicate. Even in the midst of this challenge, her thoughts were for her family, vocally and with the deepest desire, she spoke her wish that each one would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 1:00 at Baker-Stevens Funeral Home with Jerry Minor officiating. Interment will be at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens following the service. The family would like to thank those that cared for our mother during her illness. Lou was admired and loved deeply by her family, friends and all who knew her. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all. Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing us time on this earth with her. Because of it we are forever changed.
