Linkous, 82, of Middletown, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at the Middletown Regional Hospital emergency room. He was born April 17, 1918 in Stillwater, Ky., to James Irwin Linkous and Cassandra (Centers) Linkous. Mr. Linkous served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He retired from Armco Steel after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Yankee Road First Church of God. He also served as a Boy Scout leader and a school crossing guard. He is survived by four daughters, Lucy (husband Dale) Ashley of Franklin, Alice (husband David) Brown of Middletown, Billye (husband Frank) Hodits of Rochester, Mich., and Bonnie (husband Anthony) Pugh of Monroe; a son, William Linkous II of Minneapolis, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Alice Lynn Callahan, Tim and Valerie Ashley, Angela Shepherd, Julianne Burkard, Jennifer Simpson, and Cassandra, Joshua and Aaron Pugh; seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Mathis, Daniel and Brandon Bunn, Madeline, Christopher and Austin Simpson and Samantha Shepherd; a sister Josephine (husband Pete) Carberry of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Catherine Linkous in 1973; his parents; five brothers, Floyd, Walton, Rex, James and Nicholas; and eight sisters, Daisy, Dora, Nora, Ella, Anna, Rebecca, India and Viola. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Yankee Road First Church of God, with the Rev. Arnold McConnell and the Rev. Kevin Collins officiating. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Breitenbach-McCoy-Leffler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Post 218 Color Guard will be at Woodside Cemetery.
