Wolfe County News - March 1953

FUNERAL RITES HELD SUN. FOR FRANCIS COLLIER

Pine Ridge, KY - Francis Victoria Collier, was born in Wise County, 
Virginia, May 13, 1883 and departed this life on March 7, 1953 at the age 
of 69 years and ten months.

She is survived by four sons, Courtney of Whitesburg, Carl of Blackey, 
Austin and Lester both of Pine Ridge.  Six daughters; Sylvia Brewer, 
Dayton, Ohio; Rexie Netherly, Pine Ridge, Lilllian Carroll and Laura 
Dennis both of Irvine, Lorena Hanks of Morning View, Ky., and Hazel Booth 
of Campton.  Also thirty-three grandchildren and fourteen great 
grandchildren.  These sisters, Emma Whisman, of Michigan; Mollie Ledford, Crab 
Orchard; Della Marshall of Primrose.  Three brothers, Melvin Parsons, 
St. Helens; Elbert Parsons, Combs and Bradley Parsons of Praise, Ky, 
many nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Ora J. Collier and one son, Leslie, preceded her in death.

She was saved when a very young girl and became a  member of the 
Methodist church.  She lived a devoted Christian life.

Her funeral was conducted Sunday, March 8th at the Pine Ridge Methodist 
church with Rev. Willard Brewer officiating.  She was laid to rest in 
the family cemetery at Tar Ridge.
