William H. Fitzgerald, a noted artist in Scott County painted portraits of the following:  Edmond H. Parrish; N. M. Crawford, president of Georgetown College; Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Hall; John A. Bell; John L. Shawhan; Dr. H. C. Herndon; Dr. Z. C. Offutt and William McDaniel, former Georgetown postmaster.  Captain Noe Spears purchased a painting of Big Spring, by William in 1874.  William died in 1875.  Does anyone know of these paintings; where they are now located, of the location of the families?  Is there a book with photographs of the paintings?  William was my great great uncle.

There was a Larkin Craig, born 1793, living in Scott County, Kentucky.  He married Frances Anna Ficklin (called Franky), about 1814 and had seven children (1) Alice, 1815 (2) Katherine, 1817 (3) David W. 1819 (4) Polly, 1821 (5) Robert E., 1823 (6) John T., 1825 (7) Samuel L., 1827.  I know that my ancestor Larkin Craig emigrated alone to Montgomery County, Illinois in 1828.  In order to establish that they were the same men, I would like to discover what became of his wife and seven children.  Does anyone know  of them?  Frances Anna's mother's maiden name was Herndon.  Larkin's father, Thomas Craig probably lived with them and was a Revolutionary War veteran.  Can anyone help?

Looking for information on William Boyd (1764-April 14, 1816)  William was the son of William and Mary Boyd.  He married Isabel Hillis/Hiles (November 27, 1778-October 2, 1872) in 1799 in Clark County, Kentucky, daughter of John Hillis/Hiles.  They went to Tennessee about 1805.  Some children:  William, James and Robert.  Isabel's father lived in Scott County, Kentucky and probably died there. He is mentioned on a plaque/monument there for Revolutionary War service.  She had brothers James and Isaac.  James married a Mary Boyd, probably son of William Boyd, above.  Would like to hear from any Boyd or Hillis descendants.  I have some ancestors and some descendants.

Thomas and William Branham were born in Virginia and moved to Scott County, Kentucky with their parents.  From there they moved to Montgomery County, Kentucky by 1840. Their parents are indicated to be Travner Branham (1760 Orange Co. VA - aft 1831 Scott Co. KY) and Mary Sisson (abt 1770 Orange Co. VA - aft 1831 Scott Co.KY) for the following reasons.  (1)  Orange County, VA, Deed 33/436, April 26, 1831, stated that Travner and wife, Mary Sisson Branham, Scott County, Kentucky - sold land in Orange County, VA to Abner Sisson, land formerly owned by Mary's father, William.  The deed attested to by Scott Co. JP's John Branham and Job Stevenson (2) The Scott County 1830 census documents the expected age brackets for Travner and wife, Mary Sisson Branham, as well as sons, Thomas and William. Two others, not yet identified, are also listed (3)  William Branham appeared on the 1836, 1837 & 1838 Scott County tax list. (4) Thomas and William Branham first appeared on the 1840 Montgomery County, Kentucky tax list, then thereafter in consecutive years.  They appeared adjacent in the 1850 Montgomery County census.  They were also listed adjacent in the 1860 census, but with Thomas in Montgomery County and William in Powell County, due to the formation of Powell County in 1852 (5) Henry Davis, living alone, was listed in the 1830 Scott County census living adjacent to the Travner Branham family.  The apparent same Henry Davis was living with the said Thomas Branham and wife, Lydia Wyckoff family in the 1860 Montgomery County census  (6)  The significance is not presently understood, but Mary, the widow of John Branham, married John Davis after 1742 in Fauquier County, Virginia (7) Per the VA Genealogist, British Mercantile Claims, Travner Branham removed from Spotsylvania County, VA to Fayette or Bourbon County, Kentucky after the Revolutionary War.  (Like brother Gaydon, there was probably a short stay in Orange County, VA, before moving on to KY) (8) Scott County Deed 4, May 3, 1817 was an indenture involving Travner and wife Mary Sisson Branham (9) In Woodford County, KY Deed L 255, October 8, 1827, Benjamin and wife Margaret Lindsay Vance sold 144 acres in Woodford County on South Fork of the Elkhorn on the Frankfort Road to Travner Branham.  Vance currently occupied the land, part of the Beal and Williams survey.  Travner's son, the said William Branham, wed on Joanne Vance, probably related to the said Benjamin Vance.  Any interest or knowledge in any of the above surname's genealogy?
