MOTHERSHEAD, Nathaniel

Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of 120 dollars per annum to commence on the 4th day of March 1831
Certificate of Pension issued the 13th day of Octo and sent to Hon R. M. Johnson

Scott County, Kentucky
Nathaniel Mothershead appeared in Court in order to obtain benefit of a pension.  He was aged about 80 years, says he was born in March 1754 according
to his family bible, in Westmoreland County, Virginia and that he lived in Orange County at the commencement of the War (1776).  That he enlisted in the
army for one year under Capt. Richard Taylor also under Capt. Payne.  Speaks of Col. Parker and Genl Muleburgh.  He was in New York City, New
Jersey and at the Battle at Trenton and Brandywine where he was severely wounded for which he receives a pension.  He states he has lived in Scott
County 40 years and well knows Richard M. Johnson and has been a member of the Baptist Church about 40 years.

Ruth his widow applied for benefits after Nathaniel died on 29th October 1834 - in Scott County, Ky

Ruth Mothershead appeared in Court on 4th July 1836 aged 73 yrs - Andrew Johnson said he had known Nath'l & Ruth over 35 years.

Martha Gipson, the sister of Ruth, also gave deposition dated 2 Sept 1834 - She recollects their marriage took place in Orange
County, Virginia on August 27th seventeen hundred and eighty one.

Pension states:
Nathaniel died Scott County, December 29, 1834
Ruth was born November 2, 1763, their children were: Elizabeth, wife of James Greer; Alvan, Tabatha, wife of Walker Chambers; Sally, wife of John Chinn;
M.B., Brazilla, Polly, wife of Samuel Ross and John L.
