CHISHAM/CHISM, Mary

Mary, widow of George Chism of Scott County, who died 13 December 1830, who was a private in the company commanded by
Captain Spencer in the Virginia Line.
Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of 80 dollars per annum to commence on the 4th day of March 1831
Certificate of Pension issued the 16th day of June 1836 and sent to Hon. R. M. Johnson Choctaw Academy.

Commonwealth of Kentucky - Court of Scott - April 1818
George Chism appeared and made oath that he entered service as a soldier in the Revolutionary War in the month of
Feby 1775 in Captain Spencers Company, 7th Va Regt.  That he was in the Battle of Brandywine, Germantown,
Monmouth, The Cowpens, Guilford, Camden and the capture of Cornwallis at York - Stated he was now 62 years old.

John Johnson, aged 69 yrs. made affidavit he has known George Chism since they were neighbors in Orange County,
Virginia.  The affiant being raised in Culpeper and the said George in Orange.

Schedule on 3rd July 1820
George states  he is a farmer - speaks of his wife and children; Viz; Betsy, aged 32 years, Rachel, aged 30 years and
Polly, aged twenty three years.

State of Kentucky - Court of Scott
22and May 1837 - Personally appeared Mary Chisham, aged upwards of 82 years.  She says she was married about 3 years
before the birth of her first child, George, Jr., born on the 24th of August 1782 and that her husband left home to join the army
about six months before the birth of her son, George and died not return until George was ten months old.  She further declares
her husband George Chisham departed this life on the 13th day of December 1830.

John Chisham born 5th day August 1784
Sarah Chisham born 21st May 1786
Betsey  Chisham born 1st day of March 1788
Benjamin Chisham born May 1793
Raechal Chisham January 18th 1796
