OBIT: Willard Herford Nikirk 2002, Boyle Co.

Willard Herford Nikirk, 88, of South Third Street died Tuesday at 
Veterans Administration Hospital in Lexington.

Born Jan. 20, 1914, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Ed 
and Clara Wilson Nikirk.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

He was an Army veteran and the recipient of a Purple Heart. He had 
been a prisoner of war in Germany and Italy.

Survivors are nieces, including Ann Preston of Danville; and 
nephews, Thurman Preston and Bruce Paynter, both of Danville; 
and a sister-in-law, Amelia Nikirk of Danville.

Services will be noon Thursday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home 
by Gary Story.

Burial will be private in Bellevue Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Memorials may go to Heritage Hospice.
