Submitted by Sandi Gorin NOTE: I have no connection, no further informaiton and am not seeking additional information. "Killed. Walter Wilcoxsen and another negro named Smith Barlow became involved in a difficulty at Bearwallow a few days ago, as a result of which Barlow adjourned to a better land. The difficulty originated about a woman. The two men met at Bearwallow, and fierce words led to fiercer deeds. Barlow is said to have struck Wilcoxsen with a stick, whereupon the latter pulled his pop and turned to business end thereof loose in Barlow's direction. The latter was shot twice -- once in the breast and once in the abdomen. Barlow died the next day, and Wilcoxsen was put in jail at Munfordville. Wilcoxsen is said to be a pretty good negro, stands well with the whites, and has accumulated a little money. The general impresion appears that he is justifiable in what he did." ______________________________
