Dexter Brown, 57, of Scalf, Ky., passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at his home. He was a son of the late Colson Brown and Gracie Sizemore Brown. He believed in the Holiness faith and had been a former explosive worker in the coal industry. He is surived by his wife, Doris Brown of Scalf; four daughters, Beverly Gray and wife Terry of Graytown Road, Brenda Carnes of Berea, Deborah Robinson and husband Darrell, also of Berea, Thersann Jones of Corbin; two brothers, F.B. Brown and wife Maureen of Taylor, Mich., and Alonzo Brown of Scalf; three sisters, Myrtle Messer of Tennessee, Linda Bailey of Scalf and Juanita Innone and husband Sylvia of Louisville; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild. Services were conducted in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, June 8, 2003 with the Revs. John Henry Brown and Earl Hammons officiating. Burial was in Johns Branch Cemetery at Scalf. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
