Sidney M. Peavley, 92, Williamsburg, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at The Heritage in Corbin. He was treasurer of the Whitley County Fiscal Court for 34 years, one the board of directors of the Bank of Williamsburg, and a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. Survivors include one sister, Alza Walker of Lake City, Tennessee; two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Josephine Freeman Peavley, December 6, 1985; his parents, William Charles and Helen Miller Peavley; two sisters, Audrey Williams and Edith Rennick; and one brother, Charles Herman Peavley. Graveside services were held Friday, July 19 at the New Gray Cemetery, Western Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee with the Hon. Eugene Siler Jr. officiating. Burial followed. Nephews served as pallbearers. Jones & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. |
