Mr. Arliss W. North, 78, of Barbourville and formerly of Flat Lick, the son of the late Jess North and Lucy Woods North, passed away in the Heritage House Nursing Home in Corbin on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003.

He was a retired construction worker and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Gray North of Barbourville; his daughter, Billie N. Smith and husband Mike of Heidrick; five gradnchildren; and four great grandchildren; his sister, Mildred Sproles of Pineville.

Services were conducted in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003 with the Rev. Vernon Morris officiating. Burial was in Nelson Gray Cemetery at Sandy Branch, Flat Lick.

The Gray family has requested that contributions may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church Building Fund at Heidrick in memory of Arliss W. North. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
