Revolutionary War Pension Application of Nicholas Miller State of Kentucky Jessamine County |

On this 21st day of August 1820 personally appeared in open court, a court of record for the said county, by reason of the Act of Assembly, and having power to fine and imprison for contempt, Nicholas Miller, aged 72 years, resident in Jessamine County in said district, who being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath declare that he served in the Revolutionary War as follows. He enlisted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania under Capt. Petty of the 9th Regiment under Col. Ha-- -- ---- establishment Pennsylvania line to serve for during the war in the year before the Battle of Brunswick. Continued in service during the war was discharged at or near Morristown, New Jersey by Capt. Schlenk. Major Reed was one of our majors, was at the Battle of Brunswick. And I do solemnly swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have not since that time by gift, sale or in any manner disposed of my property or any part thereof with intent thereby to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an Act of Congress, An act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War passed on the 18th day of March 1818, and that I have not, nor has any person in trust for me and property, or securities, contracts or debts due to me, nor have I any income other than what is contained in the schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed. One cow - value - 10 dollars No other property but his clothing and two blankets. I have two dollars given to me and owe nothing. My family consists of my wife, aged eighty years, neither of us can work but very little. I have no occupation except working a few vegetables in a garden. Wm Hanspiger lets me have the cabin and garden I occupy, for which he charged me seven dollars.
