Revolutionary War Pension Application of Richard Lafon State of Kentucky Jessamine County |

On this, the 9th day of October 1848, personally appeared before one Wm Bronaugh, an acting Justice of the Peace, in and for the county and state aforesaid, Mrs. Anna Lafon, a resident of the said county and state, aged about 74 years, who after being first duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath, make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Provision of the Act of Congress passed 29th July 1848, entitled an act for the relief of certain surviving widows of officers and soldiers of the Revolutionary Army. Tourt. That she is the widow of Richard Lafon, deceased, late of the county of Jessamine and state of Kentucky, who was as she verily believes a Private or noncommissioned officer in the Virginia Continental Line in the Army of the Revolution, and continued some time in the service. That she cannot specify the officers under whom he served, and for the names of the same as well as the particulars and duration of the service aforesaid, she will most respectfully ask leave to refer to the Records of the Department. She further declares that she was married to her said husband previous to the first day of January, seventeen hundred and ninety-eight. She further declares her said husband departed this life on the --- day of August 1824, and that since his death, she has never again married but still remains his widow. She now most respectfully asks the --- Commissioner of Pensions that her application may merit with his early consideration and an allowance be made under the said act 29th July 1848. And that the Certificate of Pension, which may issue as evidence thereof, may be enclosed to her attorney, Isaac N. Trabue, of Frankfort, Ky, and with him only and such others as he may direct does she wish correspondence holden by any officer of the Department in reference to her said ---. Anna Lafon Sworn to and subscribed before me on the day and year aforesaid. Wm. Bronaugh, J.P. I the Just subscribed magistrate certify that the foregoing Declarant is known to me and known to be the widow of Richard Lafon, deceased late of Jessaamine County, Kentucky, who was a Private or noncommissioned officer in the Army of the Revolution in the Virginia Continental Line as verily believe. That she is a Lady of the first respectability unto all of whose statements the fullest faith and credit should be given. I further certify that I verily believe that she was married to her said husband at the time she has stated, and I further certify that she has not married since the death of her said husband.
