Starting in 1911, Kentucky required counties to record vital records (/hart/births/births, deaths, and marriages) and report it to the state. Prior to that time, there was no official recording of /hart/births/births in the state. Some counties kept their own records, but many did not. If you are researching prior to 1911, you may have to rely on family records (i.e. Family Bibles or other recorded information). Death certificates can provide an approximation of birth date.
