Micheal Roger Vance - 1950-2006
Micheal Roger Vance, 55, of Russell, Ky., died Sunday in King's
Daughters Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1950, in Chauncey, W.Va.,
and was the son of Lucille Combs Vance and the late Randolf Vance Sr.
of Russell. He was a 1968 graduate of Raceland High School and attended
Ashland Community College. Mr. Vance was a self-employed master
electrician and a former iron worker and brick mason, and had worked in
Florida as a Spanish translator. Mr. Vance was also an exceptional
artist and musician and a great enthusiast of wildlife and herbology.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era. Surviving are
his wife, the former Ms. Peggy Large of Flatwoods, Ky.; four daughters,
Christi Fletcher (husband Darrell Fletcher) of Mineola, Fla., Tracy
Pennington (late husband Sean Pennington) of Flatwoods, Lori Mahan of
Russell and Christina Mahan of Russell; three sons, Kelly Vance (wife
Melissa Mills) of Ocala, Fla., Austin Vance (at home) of Russell and
Bobby Green of Russell; five grandchildren; a loving family and a host
of friends. He will be dearly missed, just as he was dearly loved.
A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at Bellefonte
Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods by the Rev. Randolph Vance with military
rites by VFW Post 8850 of Ironton, Ohio.Carman Funeral Home in
Flatwoods is in charge of arrangements.
