Dorothy E. Felty
Sinnott 1926-2006
Dorothy E. Felty Sinnott, age 85, of Flatwoods, Ky., died May 3, 2006,
in Jo Lin Health Center in Ironton, Ohio. Mrs. Sinnott was born
Oct. 21, 1920 in Raceland, Ky., a daughter of the late Williams
Felty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J.
(Dude) Sinnott; and one brother. She was a retired waitress at Red Fox
Restaurant, a member of Holy Family Church in Ashland, Daughters of the
Kind and VFW Ladies Auxiliary no. 10017 and a charter member of
Flatwoods Jr. Women’s Club. Surviving are two sons, Paul J. (Sherri)
Sinnott of Louisville, Ky., and Lt. Col Anthony D Sinnott with the US
Marine Corps; a daughter, Yvonne Stinnott of Ironton; six
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geneva Cater of
Nitro, WV and Audry Moore of Ritman, Ohio; and a brother, Carl E. Felty
of Wheelersburg, Ohio. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May
10, at Holy Family Church in Ashland by Father John Noe. Burial will be
in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods. Friends may call
from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Afton Stark - 1918-2006
Former Coffeyville, Kan., resident Afton Louise Stark died Wednesday,
May 3, 2006, in Flatwoods, Ky. She was 87. She was born Dec. 29, 1918,
in Salt Lake City, to Hyrum and Jean (Reich) Kilburn. She attended
schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from high school there. She
married Carl Stark in Salt Lake City in 1946. They moved to Seattle,
Wash., to where Mr. Stark rejoined the U.S. Air Force. His many
assignments took them to areas including Scotland, Germany and
stateside to Kansas, Nebraska, California and Ohio. He retired in 1972
and they returned to Coffeyville. Mr. and Mrs. Stark were members
of the VFW. Mrs. Stark was a member of the 3rd District Ladies
Auxiliary, where she served as president from 1990 through 1991. She
was also a member of the American Legion, where she was past president
from 2000 through 2001. She was very active in volunteer work for the
community. In 1968, she was elected as 4th Air Force Family Affairs
Volunteer of the Year. She devoted most of her time to her service
clubs and volunteer work. She was also a member of Eagles Lodge 2459.
Survivors include a son, Robert and Sally Stark of Castle Rock, Colo.;
a son, Gregory and Toshimi Stark of Ashland, Ky.; and a daughter, Jean
and Phil Burt of Texas. There are eight grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Carl, on Dec. 26, 1990; a daughter, Arlene; a brother, Louie;
and a sister, Frances. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, May
10, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel, Ford-Wulf Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville. Jeff
Hogge will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Casket
bearers will be from American Legion Post No. 20: Bob Armstrong, Jack
Allen and Don Clayton and from VFW Post No. 20: Glenn Barlow, Gordon
LaForte and Harold Coons. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's
disease, Kansas State Association Sunflower Chapter, 347 S. Laura,
Wichita, KS 67211-1518.
