Robert N. Blake - 1925-2006
Robert N. Blake, 80, of Bellefonte, Ky., formerly of Emporia,
Kan., died Friday, May 12, 2006, in King's Daughters Medical Center in
Ashland.Mr. Blake was born Dec. 9, 1925 in Shamrock, Texas, a son of
the late John W. and Nina Eberhart Blake. He was a former member of the
Masonic Lodge In Great Bend, Kan., and the American Legion in Emporia,
Kan. He was a member of the Bellefonte Country Club, a salesman in the
oil field industry with 30 years of service at TRW Mission
Manufacturing Company and a WW II U.S. Navy veteran. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty L. Gilliam
Blake.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Sherrod Blake of Bellefonte; one son,
Michael B. Blake and wife Lori of Emporia; one step-son, Mitchell
Sherrod and wife Susan of Greenup; one daughter, Carol A. Jackson and
husband Dennis of Robbins, Calif.; one step-daughter, Melissa Rackley
of Houston; six grandchildren, Chloe and Adam Blake, James Blake,
Regina, Hannah and Megan Jackson; and three step-grandchildren, Rodney
Sherrod and Ashlyn and Justin Rackley. A memorial service will be
Thursday afternoon, May 18, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church
in Emporia with the Rev. Claudia Blakley officiating. There will be no
visitation. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 1538
Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 or to a favorite charity. Local
arrangements are under the direction of Steen Funeral Home- Central
Avenue Chapel. Arrangements in Kansas are under the direction of
Roberts, Blue, Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State Street, Emporia, KS
66801.
Ruth Bledsoe (1912-2006)
Ruth Bledsoe, 93, of Ohio River Road, Lloyd, Ky., went to be with her
Lord on Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Bledsoe was born
Aug. 26, 1912, in Willard, Ky., a daughter of the late James H. and
Nancy E. Barker Knipp. She was also preceded in death by her husband,
Clarence Bledsoe, in 1994. She was a retired seamstress for Ashland
Sales and Service and a member of Little Mary Old Regular Baptist
Church. Surviving are two sons, Dallas R. Bledsoe and his wife, Rosie,
of Louisa, Ky., and Roy R. Bledsoe and his wife, Sheila, of Ashland,
Ky.; a daughter, Lois Bledsoe of Lloyd; a brother, Acy Knipp of
Ironton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at Wright's Funeral
Home in Greenup, Ky., by Elders Paul Boggs, Junior Adkins, Gary
Blevins, Charles Fields and Curt Seagraves. Burial will be in
Friendship Cemetery in Flatwoods, Ky. Friends may call after 6 p.m.
Thursday, May 4, 2006, at the funeral home, where there will be a
church service at 7 p.m.

Dennie Braden Sr. 1919-2006
Dennie Braden Sr., 87, died May 5, 2006, in Doctors Hospital West in
Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Braden was born Jan 15, 1919, in Alcorn, Greenup
County, Ky., a son of the late William Francis and Nina Patton
Braden. Dennie served in the Army during WW II and was a proud
American. He loved to read his bible, play and listen to music and sing
good old gospel songs. He was preceded in death by this wife, Gladys
Marie Woodrow, in 1978; two sons, Charles Edward Braden and Jerry Roger
Braden; one daughter, Brenda Lou Patterson; two brothers, Lymon Braden
and Leslie Braden; two sisters, Bessie Maggard and Essie Ison; and one
grandson, Jason Rookstool. He is survived by two sons, Walter Luckie
(Belvia) Braden of Greenup and Dennis (Christine) Braden Jr. of
Darbydale, Ohio; one daughter, Dorothy Diane (Donald) Rookstool of
Grove City, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and 17
great-grandchildren that loved him and will miss him
tremendously. Elder ‘Terry Bryant will hold the funeral at 1 p.m.
Monday May 8, 2006, at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial
will follow in the Braden Cemetery on Alcorn Road in Greenup.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at
the funeral home.

Geraldine Bradford - 1940-2006
Geraldine Bradford, 65, of Crane Creek Road, Grayson, died
Friday, May
12, 2006, in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington,
Ky. Mrs. Bradford was born June 27, 1940, in Oldtown, Ky., a daughter
of the late Nickie Ely and Sara Myrtle Rose Blevins. She is survived by
her husband, Kenneth C. Bradford; one son, Nickie (Brenda) Bradford of
Vermontville, Mich.; three daughters, Jackie (Phillip) Newland of
Grayson, Tonia (Mark) Hutchinson of Argillite, Ky., and Kenni (Randall)
Redmond of Argillite; one brother, James F. Blevins of Argillite; three
sisters, Shirlene McCarty of Argillite, Ruth Brown of Argillite and
Phyllis Speta of Greenup; nine grandchildren, Misty (Chris) Branham,
Richard (Tabitha) Bradford, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Newland, Joshua
(Jessica) Bradford, Amanda Hutchinson, Zach Hutchinson, Cole Redmond,
Lakin Redmond and Dustin Redmond; and two great-grandchildren, Chase
Branham and Lucy Bradford.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenneth Lee Bradford, and
two brothers, Arnold Rose and Chester Rose.Funeral services will be at
1 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by the
Rev. Joe Hutchinson. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery on Crane
Creek Road in Grayson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and one hour before the
service Tuesday at the funeral home.
