Will of Charles English, 1801
In the name of God Amen, I Charles English of the County of Garrard, and State of Kentucky being
weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory do constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in
manner and form following to wit-
First of all my desire is that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.
Second, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Aurie English so long as she may live in this mortal life these
negroes --- the Child Isaac and Dolly also the privilege of the plantation where I now live together with the
timber on the said tract of land with the stock, plantation at the -------- House and kitchen furniture and the
Crop that may be on the said plantation at the time that I may die also fifty ---- a part of a bond that I have
on Spencer Griffith, Nathan Huston and Joseph Price together with all the interest that may be due on said bond
until paid.
Third I give and bequeath unto my GrandChildren Hannah Turner and Stephen English fifty ---- each as soon as the
money can be collected by my Executor hereafter mentioned.
My will and desire is that all my negroes and other estate which heretofore has not been willed will at the
death of my wife Aurie English be equally divided between my Children Susannah Richardson, Martha Richardson,
Stephen English, Mary Smith�s heirs as any Child, Aurie May, Rachel Stephens, Lucy East.
Lastly, I do constitute and appoint Stephen English and ----- Richardson Executor to this my last will and
testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and affixed my Seal this 28th day of October 1801.
