A church in Lancaster, Kentucky, 1884

This is a picture of the Lancaster Baptist Church. The church was organized 1842 by one of my collateral ancestors. This property is at the north east corner of Richmond Street and Campbell Street, a block east of the public square. The Baptists acquired this land in 1851, and, I assume, built this building shortly after that. It served the Baptists until it was torn down and replaced by the current building which stands on the same lot. I watched as the old building was demolished.

I think the marriage talked about at the bottom of the photo would have been Stella Marksbury and ?Howard? Rice. Howard Rice was the son of A. J. Rice and Mary Elizabeth Mock Rice. Howard Rice was a brother to my great grandfather, Victor M. Rice. Sincerely, Lynn A. Williams
