In the name of God Amen, I, Thomas Bacon a free man of color, do make my last will and testament in manner and form following, to wit: 1. I request my Executor to have body decently buried after my death and to pay to have all my just debts, the only one of any magnitude being due to Jacob Swigert, Esquire. 2. I direct all my property, both real and personal to be sold by my executor on such item as he may think proper and for that purpose, I devise the whole thereof whereas. My wife is to be decently supported during her natural life and to have privilege of retaining such of my household furniture as she may desire to keep together with one horse and buggy. 3. I hereby appoint Jacob Swigert, Esquire my Executor of this my last will and testament. As witness my hand and seal this 13 day of November in the year of our Lord 1843. Thomas Bacon
