I Sarah Hughes being of sound mind, but weak in health, do make this my last will and testament
1st    I will and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Sarah Ann Wallen and her heirs assigns forever my negro woman named Charlotte.  Also my negro woman named Margaret
and all of her children.  Witnessed my hand and seal this 1st day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

A writring purporting to be the last will and testament of Sarah Hughes, decd. was produced in court and was proved by the oaths of W. Hall and A. Neal subscribing witnesses
