In the name of God Amen I James Paxton of Franklin County and State of Kentucky do make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form
following (towit) First after my just debts and funeral expenses are paid I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Paxton during her natural life one hundred and forty
two acres of land including the mansion house to be laid off in the following manner.  Beginning at a black oak tree corner to William Lewis running thence South 30
West 150 poles to an ash tree thence North 60 East 154 poles to a stake thence running a line at right angles until it strikes a line of a lot of land designated to my
grandson Samuel Alexander binding on his lot and round to the Beginning including the 142 acres and no more.  Also to my said wife one bay mare one side saddle
& bridle two beds and bed clothing & one turned bed stead and one third of the money arising from the sale of my personal property not otherwise directed.  She is only
to have the use of the land and the old negro woman during her life.  Second to my son Thomas Paxton I will and bequeath eighty acres of land and bounded as following.
Beginning at a stake on the original line running thence South 30 East 144 poles to a white ash tree and walnut near the top of a ridge thence S60 W88 poles to a
hickory and Ironwood thence N30 W164 poles to a hickory and Sugar tree corner to Samuel Alexander lot thence at right angles to the Beginning.  Also one bed & bed
clothing.  Third to my daughter Jane Hodges I ratify the gift heretofore made of one bed cow & also fifty acres of Land on which she now lives, bounded on two sides by
the lots of Thomas Paxton & Alexander. Towith I will and bequeath to my son John the 142 acres of Land first described Including the mansion house at the death of my
wife she having a lifetime estate in the same.  I also will him one bed & bed clothing and one bay mare called Nance also to him and wife jointly two ploughs my oxen
and wagon.  Fifth to my grandson Samuel Alexander I give fifty five acres of land Bounded as following.  Beginning at two sugar trees running thence S36 East 90 poles
to a black oak and sugartree thence N60 E96 to a hickory & sugar tree thence N30 E89 poles to a walnut tree thence S60 W100 poles to the Beginning.  Also one bed
and furniture and one black colt lastly the residue of my land I give to my two daughters Rebecca and Polly to be equally divided between them each of them is to have
a side Sally a bed and bed clothing and at the death of my wife the negroes I now own and their increase towit Easter and Eliza to be equally divided between my two
above named daughter Rebecca & Polly said negroes are to belong to my wife during her life and such of my personal property as is not here specially shall be sold by
my executors and equally divided between my children and grandson and it is my request that Matthew Davidson and John Sharp as executors and my wife as executrix
be appointed by the court to carry into effect this my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25 day of March 1833.

The last will and testament of James Paxton, decd. was produced in court and proven by the oaths of James McBrayer and Matthew Davidson two of the subscribing
witnesses thereto which is ordered to be recorded and the same is truly recorded in my office.
