In the name of God Amen, I John Carter of the county of Franklin and State of Kentucky do hereby make this my last will and testament in the following in manner and - following that is to say: First, I devise that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid and for which I subject my estate. Second, I devise that my executors hereinafter named or either of them, which may qualify, sell all my land of which I may die seized and possessed. Third, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary A. Barker my horse and buggy and to her heirs. Third, I give and bequeath to my grandson, Florence Carter my gold watch, which I have herefore promised to give and have told was his watch. Fourth, I give and devise to my grandson, John F. Carter, One Hundred and fifty dollars. And, to my grandaughter, Lizzie A. Connelly, Three Hundred dollars. To my daughter, Sarah Ann Yancy, Fifty dollars and Thomas S. Carter's four children; Fifty dollars to each of them. Fifth, Whatever I have advanced to my children, I direct shall be charged to them in land or money. And the balance of my estate left after paying the above legacies. I direct to be divided among my children or the heirs of those dead, they taking what their parents would be entitled to. Mary Barker is excepted out of this last devise, as I have given her all I intend. I hereby appoint John A. Carter & William V. Spangler my Executors. I do hereby revolk all other and former wills by me made. Witness my name and seal this 11th day of May 1867. John Carter
