Dear Sir,
Enclosed find affidavit of Thos Travis additional evidence in case of the Application of Catherine Beaty
for Bounty Land under act March 3rd, 1855 which, if sufficient you will please issue a Land Warrant in
conformity to the petitions of applicant, otherwise let me know at your earliest convenience what more
may be wanting.

On this the 9th day of April 1853 personally appeared before me James L Stony a Justice of the Peace in
and for the County and State aforesaid Catherine Beaty living in the edge of Kentucky and after being
duly sworn for that purpose on her oath making the following Declaration in order to obtain Bounty Land
for the service of her Dec'd husband Alexander Beaty. She states that she was married in Sulivan County
East Tennessee by Squire Andy Crockett 51 years and six months in the month of May that she & her
said husband moved from Sulivan County to Cumberland County Kentucky, lived together up until the
time of his death which took place on the 3rd day of March 1851 in Clinton County, that she has
remained a widow ever since, that she now has at her same place where she has and for (???) as of 45
years that her said husband served a Tour of (???) 3 or six months against the Indians & thinks he was
under his brother Captain Andy Beaty - that she has all through his life talked of his service when he
went and till all a/// that he sent on his claim for Bounty Land some tine before his death. She makes said
papers a part hereof she states that her name was Travis before she was married, that she was 23 years
old when she was married & is now 73 years old. She states that she has a chance of making her
Declaration in Tennessee about one? mile & a half from her house and does so as she is old and
frail and unable to go far from home.

On this the twentyfourth day of January A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty one, personally appeared
before me a Justice of the Peace duly authorized to administer oaths within and for the County and State
aforesaid, Alexander Beaty aged eighty one years a resident of Clinton County, Kentucky, who being duly
sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Alexander Beaty who was a private in the company
commanded by Captain James Gragg in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Gilbert Christian in the Indian
War between the United States and the Cherokee in the year 1793. That he was drafted in Sullivan County
Tennessee in November 1793, as well as he now remembers, for the period of three months, and continued
in actual service in said War for about two months and was honorably discharged in Knoxville, Tennessee in
January 1794; That he was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Andrew Beaty in the Regiment
commanded by Colonel John Scott of Mounted men, in the war between the United States and the Cherokee
Indians in the year 1794.
That he volunteered in Sullivan County Tennessee in October 1794, as well as he now remembers, and
continued in actual service in said ?? for about 33 days, and was honorable discharged at Knoxville Tennessee
in the month of November or December 1794.
He state that he received a written certificate of Discharge for his services in Capt Graggs Company,
Col Christian's Regiment which got burned up together with all his other papers, when his house was
burned in 1806.
He does not now recollect whether he received a written certificate of Discharge or not for his second
tour of service. He states that he sold his claim for pay to John Shelby for $20 or $25 for his last service.
He states that William Snodgrass was a Lieut in Capt Andrew Beaty's Company, and that Snodgrass
commanded the company, Beaty not being with it.
He is unable at his advanced age, and after the lapse of so many years, to give dates with precision.
By reference to the Muster Rolls of the Companies with which he served his service (???) be seen.
He remembers that George Rutledge was a Major in Col Scotts Regiment.
He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty land which may be (???) (???) , under
the act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the Military Service
of the United States passed September 28th, 1850.

Declarant Alexander Beaty to be the identical man? who served as aforesaid and that he is of the age above stated.

On this 9th day of April 1853 personally appeared before me James L. Story a Justice of the Peace in and for said
county Eleanor Meek widow of James Meek Deceased a resident citizen of Clinton County Kentucky, aged about
75 years she being in ??? to full Credit and after being duly sworn on her oath makes the following affidavit towit
that she was living at the house of Alexander Beaty in Sulavin County Tennessee when he served as a soldier against
the Indians, a volunteer for the time of three months, as she now thinks under his brother Captain Andy Beaty, that
she helped to fix him off and remained there with his father and mother until his term of service was outs and returned
home and continued to live there for some years after that, she then married James Meek and lived some years on
said Beatys farm. That said Beaty then married Catharine Travis at the house of said Alexander Beaty where his
father then lived That she & her husband James Meek was at the wedding & that as well as she now remembers
by squire Andy Crockett married them. That she has lived in sight of the house of said Alexander Beaty & his now
widow Catharine for about 40 years or perhaps more that she cannot t??? the exact date of said marriage from
the great length of time. That she lived by the all the time in Tennessee, moved with them to Kentucky and with
exception of 2 years has lived by them ever since. She states that ??? Andy Cooper was in the same company
with Beaty in said tour and is now dead.

Kentucky Clinton County Court ordained that it be certified that it was proven to the satisfaction of the Court that
Alexander Beaty, died in Clinton County Kentucky died in the year March 1851 leaving Catherine Beaty his
widow who is still his widow and still living.

On this the 20th day of February 1858 personally appeared before me J. C. Southerland, a Justice of the Peace
in and for the County aforesaid: Thomas Travis aged 48 years a resident Citizen of the county aforesaid he is a
Good citizen of the county aforesaid and being first duly sworn for that purpose on his oath make the following
affidavit, that he will?? new Alexander Beaty now deceased for a great many years before his death and with
his now widow Catharine Beaty, he states that he lived for many years before the death of said Beaty in sight
of him and ever since in sight of his widow Catharine. Affidant states that he is a nephew of said Beaty, and
many times heard him speak of his service against the Indians in the war of 1790 under Captain Andy Beaty --
he stated he was out several months from East Tennessee.

This day Elleanor Meek came in person before me a Justice of the Peace authorized to administer oaths within
and for the County and State aforesaid and being duly and legally sworn before me on her oath states that she
is personally acquainted with the above declarant Alexander Beaty and was so acquainted with him when he
performed the services set out in his declaration and she states that she knows that he started from home as a
soldier, that she assisted in making his clothes to wear on the campaign, That he started and was gone on the
campaign months, that he performed another tour of duty but how long she does not know.
